The importance of being Baptized
Welcome to CLF!
Part of the process of growing in your relationship with Jesus is to follow His example in water baptism. We would love to celebrate this next step in your spiritual journey as you publicly profess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Baptisms are performed on scheduled Sundays during all of our services: 8:30AM — 10:00AM — 11:30AM.
What is the meaning of Baptism?
Jesus saves you by grace through faith in Him (Ephesians 2:8). Water baptism is the next step after giving your life to Jesus which shows you are fully committed to leaving your old life behind and living a brand new life.
WATER BAPTISM REPRESENTS JESUS CHRIST’S DEATH, RESURRECTION AND YOUR NEW LIFE AS A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST
“Christ died for our sins…He was buried…And He was raised on the third day.” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
“For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with Him, you were raised to a new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.” Colossians 2:12
“We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Romans 6:4
WE GET BAPTIZED FOR TWO MAIN REASONS:
REASON 1
TO FOLLOW THE EXAMPLE SET BY JESUS CHRIST
“At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.”
– Mark 1:9
REASON 2
BECAUSE CHRIST
COMMANDS IT
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
– Matthew 28:19-20
Any believer of Jesus Christ who understands salvation and water baptism and wants to take the next step in following Jesus.
“Those who accepted His message were baptized.” – Acts 2:41Â

WHEN SHOULD I GET BAPTIZED?
A prerequisite for water baptism is to be a follower of Jesus Christ and to understand the role of Jesus as your personal Savior. Once this is understood, we encourage you publicly profess your faith in Jesus through water baptism.

HOW IS BAPTISM DONE?
The Greek word “baptizo” is where we derive our English word “baptize” and it means “to immerse or dip underwater.”
We believe in total immersion for this reason. Every baptism in the Bible was by immersion and that’s the way Jesus did it!
“As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water.” Matthew 3:16

CAN MY BABY/CHILD GET BAPTIZED?
We do not baptize babies, however there are times through the year where we dedicate babies to the Lord. For more info about Baby Dediction please click here.
Children who wish to be baptized should be mature enough to express with a biblical understanding why they desire to be baptized.
