What is the meaning of Baptism?

WATER BAPTISM REPRESENTS JESUS CHRIST’S DEATH & RESURRECTION

“Christ died for our sins… He was buried…And He was raised on the third day.” – 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

“For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with Him, you were raised to a new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.” – Colossians 2:12

IT REPRESENTS YOUR NEW LIFE AS A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST

“We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” – Romans 6:4

WHO SHOULD BE BAPTIZED?
ANYONE who is a believer in Jesus Christ.”Those who accepted His message were baptized.” – Acts 2:41

WHY SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?
Baptism is like a wedding ring: It’s the outward representation of the commitment you made in your heart to God but surrendering your life to Jesus Christ as the Lord of your life. Baptism does not “save” you. Only Jesus saves you by grace through faith in Him. Water baptisms is just the next step after giving your life to Jesus to show you are fully committed to leaving your old life behind and living a brand new life with your sins from your past washed clean.

  • TO FOLLOW THE EXAMPLE SET BY JESUS CHRIST
“At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.” – Mark 1:9

  • BECAUSE CHRIST COMMANDS IT
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” – Matthew 28:19-20

WHEN SHOULD I GET BAPTIZED?
As soon as you receive Christ into your life, you can — and should – be baptized.

HOW IS BAPTISM DONE?
The Greek word “baptize” means “to immerse or dip underwater.”

We believe in immersion for this reason. Every baptism in the BIBLE was by immersion.
And that’s the way Jesus did it!

“As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water.” – Matthew 3:16
