Are you a carrier of God’s Spirit?

“He will be a spirit of justice to the one who
sits in judgment, a source of strength
to those who turn back the battle at the gate.”

Isaiah 28:6 (NIV)

Stop and ask yourself:

Does this verse reflect my life? Do I carry the spirit of justice? Do I stand at the gate and push back the battle?

The events of this last week have discouraged some, yet empowered many. And this verse gives us courage as believers that God still fills people with the spirit of justice. He gives them the strength to push back the battle at the gate.

Fortunately, God is not a respecter of people (Acts 10:34). In other words, we all have the same Spirit living inside of us. And that Spirit is still alive, working in His church, empowering men and women to turn back the battle at the gate.

You’ve been given a mission and a Spirit to empower you for that mission.

How many times does something like this have to happen for us as believers to look up to heaven and say, “Things will be different now”?

We are to be carriers empowered by His Spirit.

When Jesus told the disciples that He was going to be leaving, Peter responded to Him and said: “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?” (Matthew 19:27, NIV).

But Jesus reassured His followers that it was better for Him to go. He promised to send His Spirit to empower them. He promised that His Spirit would fill them and that they would do even greater works than He did.

Look at it like this:

Jesus was once in one place. But now His Spirit is living in millions of people all across the earth. How much more can He do now?

Are you allowing the power of His Spirit to flow through you, to lead you—to stand firm at the gate and push back the battle?
Isaiah 26:8 isn’t just a poetic verse. It’s a prophetic picture of what God wants to do in the Church today.

He’s calling people to step up and be carriers of both truth and power.

So what can I do right now to step up and be a carrier of His Spirit?

Those of us who belong to Him will rule and reign with Him. And what you do right now will dictate what you do during that time.

He, being Jesus, will give you the spirit of justice so that you can lead with righteous judgment. And this isn’t about human courtrooms. Righteous judgment is about standing firm when the truth is challenged and the lies get louder. When culture pushes back against the church, we don’t bow. You’ve got to trust the Spirit of God to give you power so that you don’t abandon your post. It’s while you fight that He strengthens.

Think about the gates of your family. The gates of your children. The gates of your marriage.

So, how will you respond as the church?
