Since 2013, CLF has partnered with Global Effect in La Vega, Dominican Republic. Global Effect equips impoverished communities in the Dominican Republic to bring about sustainable transformation that creates spiritual, economic, social, and educational impact. The ministry is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty in the lives of those they serve. They accomplish their mission through several ministries: an after school program in one of the poorest barrios in La Vega, Juan Bosh; offering character development and leadership classes in 13 public high schools; through a Leadership Academy for seniors in high school; providing college scholarships to students in abject poverty through their Higher Education Program; placing at risk students in a safe environment in their Student Housing Program and Transition Home; educating students in short careers like bookkeeping, secretary, and computer technician, while teaching them basic English, in their Career Institute; helping families start small business through their micro loan program; serving the needs of young men in the Juvenile Detention Center; and, partnering with pastors and community leaders to serve the needs of the region of La Vega. Their approach is holistic, addressing body, soul, and spirit. Find out more information by visiting www.globaleffect.org.
